1. My name is Dauna (Kind of. Same name, different spellilng, but who really cares?).
2. I am female.
3. I am 26.
4. I have been in a community college and have my associates, but right now I’m not in school.
5. I hope to go back to college soon but I have no clue for what degree or goal.
6. And the simple goal of getting back seems unreachable, but I simply can’t stay where I am forever.
7. I like reading, writing, staring at the tv till I go blind, listening to rock, alternative & country, and talking to my friends online.
8. I am a pisces, which means I do a lot of dreaming, and not a lot of doing.
9. I have been a wrimo or nanoer for six years running.
10. I first tried nanowrimo in 2002, but did not win because of college.
11. I tried again during 2003 (Why? How the hell do I know? Gabby talked me into it.) and won.
12. During 2004 I had just gotten a job and could not seem to balance writing and life.
13. In 2005 I knew that losing wasn’t an option. I won, but with a story that shall never be touched again.
14. This year, 2006, I had to win to break the tie. And I did! Two Losses, but Three Wins!
15. I won in 2007 but it was hard, and somewhat nonsensical I’m afraid.
16. Most people know me as Dauna anymore, though my last nickname was elfie.
17. Before that I was tayla but I lost all friends who knew me as tayla darling, or well not lost, but I don’t see them around much online anymore. (And when I rarely do because most of them probably have new usernames by now, I don’t message them since it would feel weird, them being practically strangers by this point.)
18. I live with my mother.
19. I do not have a driver’s license yet, and currently am dependent upon local transportation (buses), which really sucks sometimes, but is cheaper and more eco friendly.
20. I voted for Gore in 2000 and John Kerry in 2004.
21. If Hilary wins then I’ll vote for her. If Obama wins… then I might vote for the republican. The man gives me a bad vibe. I trust my intuition.
22. I hate that we’re in the Iraq war. It was badly done, wrongly done, and the longer we’re there the more people die on both sides.
23. Unfortunately, though I would love to pull out, I think it would leave the country in pure chaos. I would rather hand over the job to the UN, but their attitude is probably that we made our bed and now we’ll have to lie in it. Damn Bush.
24. I hated Bush before anyone else. In 2000 someone asked me who I was going to vote for and when I said Gore she accused me of voting for him based on some publicity stunt. I looked at her as if she were crazy (which she may be) and said it was because of his school bill proposals.
25. I know that Bush was never truly elected by the people, though most Americans don’t understand that. Our electorate system is antiquated, and needs to be updated. The popular vote is the vote in my opinion.
26. I hope this upcoming election turns out a bit better than the last two… but I’m not getting my hopes up.
27. I live in Texas. (I’m the minority down here, politically speaking.)
28. I have ridden a horse a few times, but Texas is mostly a state of cities. Let go of your preconceptions, please.
29. I am a slob; my room is messy as hell and sometimes referred to as a black hole.
30. I collect nothing.
31. I am obsessed with nothing. (Except television, books, NaNoWriMo, Fragile Gravity, Girl Genius, Girls with Slingshots, Questionable Content, Sluggy, Something Positive, other webcomics, and television.)
32. I like star trek, farscape, serenity and (almost) anything fantasy or sci fi related. (Am not a big fan of Star Wars, though I used to like it as a kid.)
33. I drink cokes mostly(any kind: dr.p, pepsi, or coca cola; coke zero is my fave right now), though I’ve been trying to cut down, and coffee not at all. I’ve never been able to stand the taste.
34. I do not drink alcohol or smoke.
35. I have never taken drugs of any kind… except prescription, tylenol and claritin. Oh, and caffeine, if you’re going to get technical on me.
36. I love Cars, Spirited Away, Matrix, Constantine, Underworld, Ultra Violet, Serenity, In Her Shoes, The Polar Express, Pleasantville, Pride & Prejudice(both versions, tho PBS is fave), Sense & Sensibility(Emma Thompson version is fave, tho haven’t managed to view the PBS one, darn it), Pieces of April, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Ever After, K-Pax, Sweet Home Alabama, and other assorted movies.
37. I don’t go to the movies very often lately, but usually rent them later.
38. I love disney movies and cartoons.
39. I used to get up early on Saturday morning to watch cartoons, then I taped, but now I just sleep becuase… sleeeeep is so precious. I feel as if I live at work sometimes.
40. I used to spend too much time online. Now I may be offline for two days before getting back online.
41. I hardly ever leave my house… except for work, and WI group meetings, which is a writing group not a therapy one. But you know, I probably need therapy, so no offense taken. ![]()
42. I had a health scare a few years back and started walking, but it didn’t last long. I keep meaning to start again but I’m on my feet all day long and they hurt at the mere thought.
43. I used to somewhat hate my maternal grandmother, which made it rather hard since she lives with us, but as she ages she becomes more pitiful and childlike.
44. Instead of yelling at her, or letting my mom yell at her for things she clearly has no control over as her memory no longer works, and her judgement is no longer sound, I try to find ways to prevent her from doing things that anger us (such as blowing up our microwave). Sometimes I’m not so successful.
45. If mom’s not complaining about her mom then she’s complaining about me. She claims she’s the only one who does anything around here. Maybe so, but I’m still waiting for the proof on that one.
46. If she’s not sleeping, then she’s probably watching tv and half dozing in the living room, or maybe knitting, but more than likely she’s asleep.
47. As for myself you can find me online and watching tv in tandem during the evenings. Unless it’s a show I really like. (Such as Heroes or Medium. [I miss Studio60!])
48. I miss my cat, Cally, even though she brought us the occasional mouse.
49. I love cats in general, though pets don’t often like me.
50. Which is what I found so great about my Cally. She loved me. I don’t think I’ll find another cat like her.
51. I have a temper, though normally I’m passive agressive… so if I’m angry at you I won’t yell at you, just be quietly hurt, not speak to you… and maybe blog about it. But I’ll be worried that you’ll read it, so I’ll choose a blog you don’t know about. Or if you know all of my blogs then I’ll write in my paper diary. So, you know, google your name if you dare, but what do you really care?
52. I am a virgin and shall most likely be one until I die.
53. And no, I would not like to see the movie 40 yr-old virgin, tyvm.
54. I may have been a nun in a prior life, however. Hey, I’d believe it! ![]()
55. Unfortunately that’s not really an option now. Well, besides the fact that I would find it hard to give up the internet and tv. And books. Though they might allow some of those, don’t you think?
56. I have problems with the Christian religion. At times I think there’s a god and other times I don’t think of it. ha.
57. I am very tolerant of other cultures and their beliefs.
58. I am not tolerant of people who are very intolerant, prejudiced, etc.
59. Being a register slave has taught me to hate stupid people (ie. customers).
60. And to suspect everyone. Please don’t try bringing back something expensive to my register if you don’t have a receipt.
61. And PLEASE don’t expect everything to be on sale when it’s just one brand name. sheesh.
62. I sometimes look at words I just wrote and have no clue what they mean or if they’re spelled right.
63. It is like a temporary black out; it comes back to me.
64. It’s not the most useful thing for someone who enjoys writing as a hobby.
65. I am not totally against drugs, though I discourage it.
66. I see drugs as a personal choice, and think they should be legalized as they are no worse than alcohol or tobacco.
67. I have known people who do drugs. (Though not heavily.)
68. I have never been offered drugs.
69. Except by my father, who semi-kiddingly offered me cigarettes for a while which I always turned down.
70. I can’t stand smoke.
71. Though I like camp fires.
72. I like camping.
73. I was a girl scout as a kid, and loved going camping as one.
74. I lost track of all the girls I knew as a girl scout. I don’t think they really liked me.
75. I’m one of those people who can be part of a group, and yet not part of a group. My fault? Theirs? Who knows.
76. I loved singing songs at camp.
77. Camp always caused me to lose weight (all that walking).
78. I am a night owl, though my day job interferes with that.
79. I like talking to moderately crazy people and think people who are completely normal are insane.
80. Everyone is a little crazy.
81. I like having meaningless conversations in which philosophy, normalcy, the meaning of life, etc. are discussed, though it’s been a while.
82. I like discussing cartoons.
83. I like discussing story possibilities (esply with Writer’s Ink members).
84. I have thought about suicide in the past.
85. I once threatened to commit suicide to my dad who laughed at me.
86. I was so angry at him after that little episode, but all thoughts of changing my last name legally were dropped after I realized this required a lawyer and money.
87. I still have his last name, but I would trade it in willingly. (Not that I ever plan on getting married.)
88. I have only completed a few short stories and several longer stories collaboratively written, but never a novella or novel length story on my own.
89. I have written over 50 beginnings to novels which fizzled out (mostly because they sucked).
90. I keep trying, but I’m not prolific… which would help.
91. Nanowrimo forces it out of me, but I need that help more than one month out of the year! Part of the problem would be tv, the internet, and books. heh.
92. I am addicted to tv. So badly that I plan my life around it… and I don’t have TiVo.
93. I used to play Canasta, though more because I get to talk to friends while I play than for the game itself…. but then the friend I played with stopped playing… and then she scammed me. Uber long story. If you want to start a game feel free to invite me. I’m sure I can relearn pretty quickly. heh.
94. I like sugar… which is bad considering my family has a history of diabetes.
95. My favorite candy is Kit Kat, Reeses cups, Take 5, PB Twix, and other choclatey stuff that’s bad for me.
96. My mom used to not let us keep really sugary things in the house, but she’s relaxed that rule as of late… considering I can now buy my own sugar.
97. So I used to eat things with Splenda in it a lot, which actually isn’t all that bad, and probably healthier. But yeah… me with sugar… *shakes head* never a good idea. I’m trying to cut down right now.
98. As a kid other kids called me fat.
99. I wasn’t really.
100. I am now overweight… in fact I am very overweight.
And that’s it. You may leave now.
